JEWISH SAT PREP COURSE – Q & A

Q: How does the program work?

A: NCSY has paired up with the Princeton Review to offer the prep course you know and love for a fraction of the price.  Students will receive 15 hours of in class instruction from the Princeton instructors, 4 formal practice tests and individualized test score review, totaling over 30 hours of help!  The standard 15-hour course starts at $699 and we are offering it for $449*.

*Includes The Portland Shabbaton (March 16-18) for free for first time Shabbaton attendees.

Q: What makes this course Jewish?

A: Jewish SAT Prep is only open to Jewish students.

Q: Is that it?  Why the Great Deal?

A: NCSY offers this incredibly subsidized course in order to get Jewish teens together to learn about Judaism.  Since the SAT course is designed to help students succeed on their tests, the Jewish part of the program will share the same goals.  Students will learn test management skills through a Jewish lens, including healthy study habits, the importance of time management, and preventing test anxiety.  NCSY understands the importance of Jewish teens learning about Judaism and is eager to subsidize an entire SAT class in order to facilitate this goal.

Q: How do the classes run?

A: Each Sunday, for 6 weeks, students will meet for 3 hours and 15 minutes.  The first 45 minutes will be “The Jewish Brain” followed by the 2.5 hour Princeton Review course.  In addition, 1 practice SAT test will be offered on January 17th at 5 pm, and 3 practice SAT tests will be offered on various weeknights.  Those will last for 4-5 hours.

Q: Where do the classes meet?

A: Classes meet at the NCSY office: 6688 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland OR 97219.
